Adoption Support Group

Last night Ryan and I went to a waiting families support group that we heard about through our adoption agency. They meet the second Friday of most months to help adoptive families through their adoption process. There is another support group that you can attend after your adoption has been completed.

Tonight there was a guest speaker who had adopted two children and had one biological child. She was a child psychologist and had some helpful information to share. She relocated her family to the Portland area about a year ago to start practicing as an adoption psychologist. Her practice can help anyone who has been adopted, has adopted or is planning to adopt. She gave us helpful information to use when people start asking adoption related questions that are hard to answer. We plan on going again next month. They are having an adoptive family panel that should also give us great advise on how to answer the hard to answer questions.
