Interviews

Ryan and I both had our individual interviews with our adoption clinician yesterday afternoon. Ryan’s was first and lasted for over an hour. Ryan said his interview went well and that she took a lot of notes. My interview was right after his and she also took a lot of notes when I answered questions. She mentioned that we had the same answers for a lot of things and could tell that we are a good team. She had several questions on how we plan to discipline our children and how we came to the decision to adopt. My interview also lasted over an hour. When I left our adoption agency I felt like I did a great job. I answered all of her questions honestly and I did not get emotional when she asked the tough personal questions. The anticipation of the interview was the worst part. Since it was rescheduled a few times I got myself a little worried. Those worries are all gone now though, and we are beginning to build a positive relationship with our clinician.

After my interview I showed her our adoption book that we have been working on for weeks. She loved it and said that she really noticed that we are a very family oriented couple. She gave us the go ahead to complete the rest of the books. I still have a few spots where I would like to add a couple more pictures. I also need to add titles for every picture to help the birth mom get to know us better and be able to know what we were doing in each picture. That will be easy enough. Before I left her office she said that she thinks we are a very desirable adoptive couple and she also thinks we could be picked quickly.

We have the last interview scheduled for the week of our anniversary. This interview will be at our house and we will be interviewed together. I am looking forward to having the paper work part of our adoption completed. Within the next few weeks we will finish up our adoption books and the letter we have to write to the birthmother. Another thing she mentioned is that there is going to be a lot of placements in the next 4-5 months. Maybe it will be us or maybe not. I know that our baby is out there somewhere and we will be parents when we are supposed to be. I have been keeping myself pretty busy so time is going by pretty fast.
