Home Visit

Tonight Ryan and I had our last home study visit with our adoption clinician. She came to our house, looked around and told us that she did not have any concerns about us being able to raise a child in our home. She also had a few more questions to ask so she could finish up her paperwork. She loved our kitties and mentioned what a big boy Oliver was. She also brought over some information on the Love and Logic parenting classes she had mentioned in our last visit.

At the end of the interview she wanted to know when we could have our books finished. I told her that we could have them ready in a few days if needed. "That is perfect" was her response. She told us that our home study will officially be finished Monday or Tuesday and would need the books by then. Wow, we are going to officially on the wait list to be parents soon. I was not expecting our home study to be finished for about a month so this was a BIG surprise to me. I am very excited about this new step in our adoption adventure.

After our clinician left Ryan and I looked at each other with this silly/happy grin. We are both really excited about being parents. Ryan was also shocked to hear our home study will be completed so soon. Our clinician had also mentioned that our next purchase should be a car seat so we are ready for the possibility of an "Instant Baby". That is when the birth mother decides while she is at the hospital who she wants to adopt her child. Apparently there has been more "Instant Babies" than they are used to so she wanted us to be prepared for that possibility. It could be any day now but we will keep you posted as we find out more.
