We are all home from the hospital now. Landon is getting better everyday. Here is a recap of the last week with the McLane's:
Friday night Landon started getting sick, he was throwing up and had explosive diarrhea. Since we had been recently warned about entercolitus we thought we should at call Landon's pediatrician. The on call pediatrician said that it would be best to bring Landon to the emergency room right away since he would not eat anything. So at 11:30pm we head to Doernbechers and at this point I had tears in my eyes. I was pretty sad that we had to take him there again so soon. The pediatric side of the emergency room is closed at night so we were mixed in with everyone else any they were really really busy. After a few hours it was Landon's turn to see the doctor, they immediately put in an iv and started re hydrating him. They also drew blood and gathered a sample from one of Landon's dirty diapers to run some tests.
We waited for hours for the test results but the blood work all came back normal. They let us know that the other test results would be in tomorrow or the next day. Soon after Landon was re hydrated and able to keep pedialyte down they sent us home. I asked the ER doctor if I should still take Landon to his appointment on Monday and she said yes even though he is sick. At this point it is about 6:00am and both Ryan and I had been up for 24+ hours. We all slept for a long time when we got home but as the night went on Ryan and I started feeling a little queasy. Sunday afternoon a nurse called with Landon's test results. He tested positive for Clostridium Difficile and needed to be put on antibiotics right away. The only pharmacy that would fill this specific prescription on a Sunday was OHSU. Ryan offered to go out and get it so Landon and I could rest. Landon could barely keep the antibiotics down because they tasted so bad and still did not want to eat much.
Monday morning Ryan still is not feeling any better and he has all of the same symptoms as Landon so he heads to Urgent Care. Landon had a Dr's appointment with the surgeon so I decided to take him so Ryan could stay home. I did not feel great but for some reason I did not feel right about canceling Landon's appointment. When I got there I made sure to let the nurse know Landon tested positive for Clostridium Difficile since it is contagious. The surgeons came in a made a few remarks about entercolitus to themselves and both agreed Landon needed to be admitted. Again I have tears in my eyes thinking about Landon being sick again. The surgeon reassured me that Landon was going to be ok and this should be a short stay. We had to wait a few hours for a room but eventually Landon was admitted. I called Ryan right away so he could make his way to the hospital. Ryan got his test results and he also had Clostridium Difficile. The urgent care doctor said that since I had the same symptoms he would give Ryan enough antibiotics for the both of us.
The first steps were to get Landon re hydrated and run some more tests. After having an IV for a few hours Landon was starting to feel hungry again. He was only able to have pedialyte but he was content with that. The days we were in the hospital all seemed to blur together but Landon was getting a little better each day. After rounds Tuesday they said Landon could have formula again and brought him some hypoallergenic stuff that would be easier for his tummy to digest. By Thursday Landon was feeling a lot better but not eating as much as normal and sleeping a lot. We also learned Landon also had the Norwalk Virus. Friday there was talk about us being able to go home but they decided to keep him one more night. We were all excited to leave Saturday afternoon. Landon was not given a clean bill of health but would continue getting better each day. He has to have antibiotics every six hours for the next five days.
Today Landon is eating like a horse but still sleeping a lot more than normal. Ryan and I are feeling better and glad we only have one more day of antibiotics. The antibiotics we are on leave a constant bad taste in our mouths, make your stomach uneasy and make food taste like chemicals. I am very thankful we are home again. I was beginning to get cabin fever staying in that hospital room day after day. Landon was a real trooper, he was such a good boy while we were in the hospital.

Oh my gosh, Brooke, that's horrible! You guys have been through so much. Hopefully Landon won't have to see the inside of a hospital for a very long time! Take care of yourself.
You deserve mother of the year or another award with the same merit. What a pain - but so glad things are taken care of now and everyone is on the mend. Love you & praying for all of you!
